The Ellerslie is a five-story apartment building located at 601 Wyanoke Avenue in Baltimore’s Pen Lucy neighborhood that serves low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities. The project was renovated under HUD’s Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program. Originally built in 1974, the building was in need of a major renovation. The 117 units consist of 70 efficiencies and 47 one-bedroom apartments, which were renovated while residents remained in their units. The rehabilitation scope involved replacing or upgrading major building systems, replacing appliances and finishes, upgrading common areas and community spaces, as well as improving site features and amenities in a sustainable manner. Residents can enjoy a handicapped-accessible landscaped private courtyard, complete with a raised community garden and built-in projection screen for entertainment.
