In 2018, Moseley Architects merged with multifamily housing specialists Marks Thomas Architects. To design sustainable, environmentally sound communities with a social consciousness – places that people invest themselves in, value, and are proud to call home — is our goal. Our approach is to think of housing as the building block for communities. We envision houses in a larger context of neighborhood and community and create a sense of place that is appropriate and human. We endeavor to encourage contact with nature and to respect and enhance any natural resources in design. We relate housing to public spaces that encourage socialization.
As a recognized leader in designing low-income housing facilities, we are proud that our projects regularly receive industry awards such as Urban Land Institutes’ Wavemaker award. These projects range from new single-family affordable LEED Platinum cottages to high-rise resident-in-place Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) renovations. Additionally, we have extensive experience with Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) funding, including Maryland’s competitive Community Development Administration (CDA) grants, 4 percent, and 9 percent tax credits.
